Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said that out of 27,019 COVID-19 tests administered statewide on Wednesday, April 7, a total of 1,038 came back as lab-confirmed positives for a 3.84 percent positivity rate, down from 5 percent the previous day.
Nine new COVID-19 patients were admitted into Connecticut hospitals, bringing the total to 514 still being treated for the virus, while five new fatalities brought the death toll to 7,935 statewide.
Since the pandemic began, more than 7.9 million COVID-19 tests have been administered, resulting in 318,767 confirmed cases.
The latest breakdown of confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Connecticut, by county, according to the state Department of Health on April 7:
- Fairfield: 91,622;
- New Haven: 82,622;
- Hartford: 77,133;
- New London: 20,986;
- Litchfield: 13,282;
- Middlesex: 11,820;
- Windham: 10,018;
- Tolland: 8,783;
